On the morning of July 3, 2024, Thai Nguyen University of Sciences (TNUS) successfully hosted the Grand Finale of the ECOViP 2024 Ecotourism Startup Ideas Competition.
After a rigorous selection process in the preliminary rounds, the organizing committee shortlisted four outstanding projects to compete in the finale. In preparation, the finalist teams received guidance and training from leading experts in entrepreneurship, hospitality, and travel services. These mentors provided not only in-depth professional knowledge but also invaluable real-world experience to help refine each project.
During the competition, the teams presented their ideas before the judging panel and responded to questions in both English and Vietnamese. The judges also offered constructive feedback, suggesting ways to further develop, expand, and strengthen each startup model.
Competition results were as follows:
First Prize: Integrated Eco-Lodging and Tour Services
Second Prize: Ecotourism – Rural Tour Model
Third Prize: Online Tour Advisor – Good Trip
Consolation Prize: Handmade Wool Product Distribution
In addition to certificates and awards, the winning team earned the opportunity to attend the Startup Summer Camp in the Philippines at the end of July 2024.
The competition is part of the ECOViP Project – Promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Ecotourism for Sustainable Development in Vietnam and the Philippines. It aims to create a platform for exchanging ideas on ecotourism entrepreneurship, inspire students at TNUS, and discover practical, innovative solutions that can be nurtured into viable startups.
The organizers expressed hope that the competition will inspire students to embrace an entrepreneurial mindset—daring to think, act, and pursue their passions. With continued support from faculty and businesses, they believe these ideas can grow into impactful initiatives that contribute to sustainable tourism development.
The ECOViP 2024 Ecotourism Startup Ideas Competition concluded in a spirit of excitement and optimism, leaving participants and organizers eager to see the winning ideas come to life.
